About The Wilson House
Nestled among the streams and hills of central Pennsylvania, Tyrone’s Wilson House Bed and Breakfast is an architectural marvel where refinement steeped in the Gilded Age meets the innovation of the modern era and both are ensconced in a relaxing small town atmosphere. Built in 1928, this five-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion was home to one of the pioneers of industry and merchandising, George C. Wilson, Sr., founder of the Wilson Chemical Company and the entrepreneurial mind behind White Cloverine Salve.
The Wilson House Bed and Breakfast features a spacious library and sun room, a perfect place for your breakfast. Reflecting the attention-to-detail of the times, there is a well-appointed formal dining room. Nooks and corner rooms make great places to rest, read or take in those well-earned moments of solitude and contemplation.
Many of the mansion’s details and hidden delights reflect the innovative flair of “G.C.” Wilson, who placed newspaper, magazine — and in a historic first — comic book ads across the nation to recruit agents to distribute his salve. Wilson, for example, insisted that his home would be equipped with a breakthrough in convenience at the time including intercoms and a central vacuuming system. Today, The Wilson House Bed and Breakfast is still “wired” with the latest modern conveniences, including wifi and smart television.
About Your Hosts
Wendy and Stephen Grot are the hosts of Wilson House Bed and Breakfast. The couple operate a high-tech company, called Ion Power, which is located just across the street from the bed and breakfast. They are also starting a microbrewery a block away. The couple bought the bed and breakfast as part of their mission to revive and restore some of this community’s gems for guests and visitors to their town.
